Michael Callahan: D.D., O.C.R.

Michael Callahan began his preparation and formation for the ministry at St. Matthew Church in Orange, Calif., and was ordained into the priesthood by The Most Reverend Jürgen Bless at Old World Village Church (St. Jude Thaddeus) in Huntington Beach in 1998. Father Michael served as pastor of St. Jude Thaddeus Church for three years, and as a priest and pastoral associate at St. Matthias Church in Rockwall, Texas, for two years. Additionally, Michael worked for six years as an emergency services chaplain in the San Francisco Bay area and has extensive hospital and hospice chaplaincy experience.

 

Michael was elevated to the episcopacy in December of 2017, by the Most Reverend Juan Baladad, and is now the presiding bishop for The Catholic Church in America, a conservative jurisdiction in the Old Catholic Tradition.

 

His education includes a Bachelors in Theology (2006) and an earned Doctor of Divinity (2004) from Saint Jude Theological Institute, an ecclesiological seminary, also under the authority of The Most Reverend Jürgen Bless and the Inter-American Old Catholic Church.
